Abnormal heating, vibration and noise suddenly increase during the running of the rolling bearing. What causes it? Common forms of destruction are:
1, fatigue spalling
In the rolling bearing or rolling element surface, due to the alternating load, the surface metal of the contact surface is exfoliated and gradually expands to form pits. If it continues to run, it will form an area of exfoliation. Improper installation or tilting of the bearing housing hole and the centerline of the shaft will cause the local area of the bearing to bear a large load and cause early fatigue damage.
2, cracks and fractures
Inadequate material defects and heat treatment, too much interference fit, improper combination design, such as stress concentration caused by grooves on the supporting surface, will form ring cracks and fractures.
3, indentation
When outside hard particles enter the bearing, and between the rolling body and the raceway, the rolling surface can be indented. In addition, an excessive impact load can also cause local plastic deformation of the contact surface to form pits. When the bearing is at rest, even if the load is small, a uniform distribution of pits will be formed on the raceway due to the vibration of the surrounding environment.
4, wear and tear
When the rolling bearing seal is not good, so that dust or particulate matter into the bearing, or poor lubrication, will cause the contact surface more serious scratches or wear and make the bearing vibration and noise increase.
5, current corrosion
Current through the bearing will generate a small spark, resulting in localized annealing of the contact surface with small pits or bright black spots. In severe cases, larger pits will appear.
6, rust
Water or acid, alkali, salt and other substances intruded into the bearing or improper use of lubricants will be quoted as bearing rust. Even slight corrosion of precision bearings will cause the bearing to be scrapped.
7, the holder is damaged
Rolling bearings, especially high-speed bearings, due to lack of lubricant, cause wear, collisions, and even breakage of the cage at the contact points of the cage with the rolling elements or ferrules.
